Overview: German Yellow Guppy is a result of selective breeding like many other guppies. The unique colour and peculiar features make it one of the best fish to keep in the tank. If you are looking for guppies, German Yellow Guppy could be your pick. The bright colours in this little fish make the entire tank look beautiful. It has a bright yellow colour and endorses playful nature. It is one of those fish that become the centre of attraction easily. It is easy to care for and can survive in all types and sizes of tanks. Being peaceful in nature, this fish is a good option for beginners too. With suitable water parameters, it can thrive well in the home aquariums.

Origin and Habitat: Originally, the guppies are from the northern part of South America. They belong to the Poeciliidae family. A wide variety of guppies can be found in countries like Venezuela, Barbados, Trinidad, Singapore, and the USA. Being small in size, guppies are more likely to be found around Java ferns and Java moss, which makes a safe place for them to hide. Guppies are excellent for inhabiting the top of the aquarium, but make sure you keep the lid or cover of the tank, or else they may jump out. They are peaceful and hardy fish that can live joyfully under all circumstances.

Temperature: The ideal temperature range for German Yellow Guppy is 64 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit. Although it can tolerate sudden and minor fluctuations in temperature, try to keep it within the range for the best results.

Water conditions: The ideal water pH for German Yellow Guppy is from 5.5 to 8.0. The hardness of the water should lay between 10 to 30 KH. Optimal light intensity is good for the survival of guppies. Since they are active swimmers, make sure you keep a lid on the top of the tank to prevent fatal escape. The minimum tank size is 10 gallons.

Breeding: Guppies are easy to breed fish species. They can be bred even by beginners after a little experience and knowledge. Make sure you transfer the mates in a separate tank for breeding purposes, as the temperature and other water requirements vary from the display tank. Also, the breeding tank should be covered with floating plants and a breeding box to protect the fry from the adults. It is advised to feed brine shrimp, pulverized flakes and micro food to the fry.

Feeding: German Yellow Guppy is an omnivorous fish species. You can feed them with both meat and algae-based food. Freeze-dried blood worms, brine shrimp, are some common fish food that German Yellow Guppy love to have. With proper nutrition, guppies live healthily and happily.

Lifespan: Under healthy conditions, proper water parameters and nutrition, German Yellow Guppy live for 2 to 2.5 years.

Do you know? German Yellow Guppy has a peculiar bright yellow coloured body that makes it one of the best guppies.
