Overview: Ludwigia ‘Dark Orange’ belongs to the Onagraceae family and is native to North America. As the name indicates, it is a beautiful orange-colored aquatic plant and brings vibrancy to the tank. You may get different hues of yellow to dark orange, depending upon the light and care given to it.

With little demands, Ludwigia ‘Dark Orange’ is a perfect aquatic plant for beginners too. Since tissue culture plants are free from pests, it is ideal for every aquarist. It is a stem plant. You can propagate it further with stem cutting. Trimming of Ludwigia ‘Dark Orange’ is recommended as it achieves bushy growth very frequently. Carbon dioxide and nutrients will encourage its growth.

Advantages: Tissue culture aquarium plants are superior in quality compared to normal plants as they are developed in-vitro conditions. They are devoid of pests and infestations that can harm the already-established tank. Adding the tissue cultures version of Ludwigia arcuata ‘Dark Red’ is safe and risk-free.

Care: Ludwigia ‘Dark Orange’ is delivered in a properly packed condition. It is recommended to remove the tissue culture gel before planting it in the tank. It can be removed by cleaning the plant with water by simply removing the gel with hands. Ludwigia obtains bushy growth, so it is advised to plant them a few centimeters apart and keep trimming once they start spreading.

Light requirements: Ludwigia requires medium to high light conditions to develop the stunning hues of yellow, orange, and dark orange.

pH requirement: It can range between 6 and 7.5.

Other requirements: Usually, Ludwigia ‘Dark Orange’ is not a highly demanding plant, but including nutrients and basic fertilizers helps. Additionally, carbon dioxide supplementation makes the plant stronger and bushier. Also, it will help attain better colors.

Regular trimming is essential to encourage side shoots growth and make the plant bushy. It also allows light to pass on the lower parts to avoid root death. Ludwigia ‘Dark Orange’ has the tendency to grow profusely and become dense. You can prune it for many weeks without requiring replanting.

Make sure to avoid extreme water parameters.
