Overview: Commonly known as Water Lily, it is a beautiful tropical pond or water garden plant. The plum-colored blossoms of the plant are enough to bring vibrancy to the place. It is a prolific bloomer that spreads its pleasing aroma. The sweet and aesthetic fragrance of its flowers makes the environment lovely.

Appearance: The plant features beautiful free-flowing purple blooms. The stunning star-shaped flowers grow above water and give the area a dramatic and visual appeal. When the flowers don't bloom, the ornamental saucer-like leaves, also called pads, look even more satisfying. The leaves' color may vary; however, they usually are bronze-green with striking reddish mottling. They are round with textured edges, slightly jagged or ruffled. Since the leaves are large and grow up to 6-1/2 ft, they provide enough shade to the fish.

Temperature and water conditions: Panama Pacific Water Lily loves full sun and undisturbed water. It grows well in conditions when the daytime temperature reaches 35 degrees C or 100 degrees F. You need to protect it from the wind. The water depth should be at least 12 to 30 inches, giving it enough space to grow.

Light requirements: Panama Pacific Water Lily requires up to six or more hours of direct sunlight to show proliferous growth. Once bloomed, it can thrive in partial shade conditions where direct sunlight lasts up to four hours.  

Propagation: This plant spreads by producing a tuber-like rhizome. Rhizomes are underground organs (stem) of a plant that store nutrients and water, allowing it to grow profusely. The leafy shoots present in the rhizomes are split to propagate as a new individual plant. Propagation of Panama Pacific Water Lily should be practiced in spring or early summer.
