Overview: Staurogyne sp. Porto Velho belongs to the Acanthaceae family. The reason why aquarists love having Staurogyne sp. Porto Velho is due to its less demanding and easy to maintain the habit. It can be grown as a foreground plant in the tanks. The leaves are narrow lanceolate with a long and pointed tip. You can give a dramatic view of the aquarium with Staurogyne sp. Porto Velho, as its leaves turn greyish-green to slight purple with time. It is a wonderful creeping plant that is easily adaptable to varied water conditions. Regular trimming will provide it with good growth.

Advantages: There are multiple benefits of having a tissue cultured variant of Staurogyne sp. Porto Velho as the risk of pest infestation becomes negligible. Many times plants bought from pet stores bring pests with them that can hamper the growth of other plants. It is the reason why choosing tissue cultured Staurogyne sp. Porto Velho will ensure better results. Once you buy the tissue cultured plant, make sure to maintain water parameters within the prescribed range for its best growth.

Light and other requirements: Staurogyne sp. Porto Velho grows well under the temperature range of 20 to 30 degrees Celsius. It is a hardy plant that can survive well even under slight fluctuations in temperature and pH. Medium to high light conditions is perfect for getting the purplish hue in the leaves and bushier growth. Staurogyne creeps slowly and spreads profusely to cover the foreground areas of the aquarium. With high light intensity, leaves become purplish and make the tank look beautiful with contrasting colours. This attractive carpet-forming plant needs good lighting and a good CO2 and nutrient supply.

pH Requirements: The plant can thrive well under the pH requirements ranging between 6-8.

How to Use: Staurogyne requires regular trimming to attain bushier growth. Plant it as a foreground or midground plant. You can propagate it through runners, cuttings, splitting, cutting off daughter plants.

Care: Remove the tissue culture gel from the plant before introducing it to the tank. Clean it thoroughly with water and remove the gel with a soft brush or your hands. The gel may bring slight changes in the water parameters. Therefore, make sure it is completely removed from the plant before burying in the substrate.
