Rotala Nanjenshan - Tissue culture Aquatic Plant

Overview: Native to Southeast Asia, Rotala Nanjenshan is popular for its green leaves that often vibrate reddish and pinkish hues. It is a stunning stem plant which is delicate and soft. There are multiple variants of Rotala and Rotala Nanjenshan is popular among the aquarists. It is also called Green Wallichii. The moderate height makes it an ideal midground or background plant for the tank. The leaves are long, narrow, fine and elongated that adds more beauty to the entire plant.

Care: Rotala Nanjenshan is a medium demanding plant in terms of carbon dioxide. However, it requires proper light to bring out the reddish tinge in the leaves. It can thrive in suitable water conditions but minor fluctuations are also tolerable.

Light requirements: Rotala Nanjenshan requires a medium to high light conditions that helps it get the typical reddish and pinkish hues on the leaves. On the contrary, in low lighting, poor growth is recorded, and the leaves stay pale and faded.  

pH requirement: The plant can tolerate a pH in the range of 6-7.

Other requirements: It is best to maintain slow water currents in the water as high currents may hamper the thin and delicate leaves and stem of the plant. In addition, ensure that the substrate is nutrient rich. Adding liquid fertilizer is also beneficial as it will help the plant grab all the macro and micro nutrients required for flourishing.
